Yellowing nails?
If you like your nails painted but notice them going yellow despite using a good base coat there are a number of things you can do.
- Buff the surface of the nail to remove the staining – don’t do this each time you change your polish, try to keep buffing to a minimum, only using all three sides of the buffer monthly, if you feel they need a top up shine mid month use step three to add that extra bit of sheen.
- If this isn’t enough to remove yellow staining, try soaking your nails in lemon juice watered down with a bit of water (1 lemon to 100 ml water)
- If you’re still finding the yellow staining a problem leave them unpolished and buffed for a few weeks to see if this makes a difference, maintaining their strength with a good cuticle oil. /li>
Some people are more prone to yellow staining, others can experience a minimal effect, it’s just luck of the draw. If I’m planning to go without polish on my toes I often book myself into the chiropodist for a good professional buff, I find this works a treat and the results are fantastic. They’re also professionally qualified to scrap the dead skin off your heals and soles of your feet, stick to the professionals when it comes to removing skin in this way, your local manicurist should use no more than a foot file.
