The perfect French manicure
This is tough to do at home and takes years of practice, so don’t beat yourself up if it’s a little wonky.
- Apply base coat
- Use white polish for the tip (some shades are softer than others, depends on your preference, the softer whites look more natural and are sometimes referred to as an American Polish instead of a French Polish) the best way to do this is not to worry about getting the white polish on your skin when painting as this will allow you to get a much thinner line at the top and can be removed from the skin with a nail corrector pen later. The thinner line will make the French manicure look more natural. Attempt to paint the line in one stroke moving your finger round as you go from side to side. If you find your white lines are really wonky, wait for the white to dry and use a nail corrector pen to neaten it up.
- Apply natural colour over the whole nail (I find a natural colour with a hint of pink looks the best and can hide wonky white tips, but once again this is down to preference and if your hand is extremely steady a clear coat can look just as lovely).
- Apply top coat
