Nail biter?
Habits are hard to break, we’ve all tried, whether your vice is smoking, chocolate, couch potato syndrome or biting your nails or the skin around your nails it’s a tough one to crack.
I recommend regular manicures to all nail biters (weekly if possible until a difference can be seen), no matter how stumpy your nails are or how embarrassed you are it’s worth it. A manicure will neaten your cuticles, provide your nails with much needed nourishment and I find the worst nail biters don’t tend to attack their nails as much when they are painted. Remember short nails look fabulous with coloured polish.
In between manicures, apply cuticle oil or cream every time you catch yourself putting them in your mouth. Not only will this taste bad but it will significantly strengthen them.
Alternatively you could treat yourself to a gel manicure treatment (Pampalicious’s Three Week Wonder). Gel is a gentle material used to coat the nails or extend the nails if desired, strengthening and promoting growth of the natural nail underneath.
Unlike the old nail extension treatments Gel is perfectly good for the nail and can be a great way to break the nail biting habit.
